Local Youngsters Destroy Toy Guns, Get New Toy
(Providence-AP) -- Rhode Island youngsters are trading in their toy guns today.
The toy gun trade is being organized by the attorney general's office.
The plan is to destroy the toy guns using a machine called the Bash-O-Matic. It was built by students at the New England Institute of Technology and smashes the guns. In return, the children are being given another toy.
Attorney General Patrick Lynch says children need to learn the dangers of all guns.
Lynch is being joined at the toy gun bash by Providence Mayor David Cicilline and other community leaders.
