Man sentenced to serve 40 years for 2003 murder
PROVIDENCE, R.I. A 32-year-old man has been sentenced to serve 40 years in prison for a 2003 murder. Superior Court Judge Robert Krause sentenced Raul Vargas this week to 60 years with 40 to serve.
Vargas was convicted in October of second degree murder for the death of Roberto Manuel Adino.
According to prosecutors, Vargas and Adino were staying at the apartment of a female acquaintance and her common law husband in May 2003.
Witnesses said they went into a bedroom they were sharing and shortly after a shot was heard. Vargas then fled, telling others in the apartment to get rid of Adino's body.
