Study Finds Link Between Milk Drinking and Parkinson's in Middle Aged Men
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

Drinking two average-size glasses of milk each day may raise the risk of Parkinson's disease in middle-aged men, Korean researchers have found.

The scientists at Korea University, writing in the journal Neurology, said they doubted that the apparent link had anything to do with calcium, milk's key nutritional ingredient. They said it was unclear whether another ingredient, or possibly a common contaminant might be responsible, according to BBC News Online.

The researchers found that men who drank more than 16 oz. of milk a day were 2.3 times more likely to develop Parkinson's than those who drank no milk.

But experts consulted by BBC News Online warned against drinking less milk, saying more research was needed.
